Overview

This tool is ideal for creating visual color schemes and quickly identifying elements that are missing data. It's faster than traditional filtering methods and provides an intuitive, dynamic approach to element visualization.

Requirements

Before using Color Elements by Parameter, ensure your environment meets the following prerequisites:

 Autodesk Revit: From version 2020 to newest.
NonicaTab: NonicaTab Pro or NonicaTab Free.

Usage

  1. Open your Revit project and navigate to the desired view.
  2. Navigate to NonicaTab → Color Elements by Parameter.
  3. Select a Category: Choose from all categories available in the current view (e.g., Walls, Windows, Doors).
  4. Choose a Parameter: Select any parameter from the chosen category (e.g., Family, Level, Type).
  5. Review Values: See all parameter values for elements in the current view, each assigned a random color initially.
  6. Customize Colors:
    • Apply random colors by clicking the random color button
    • Create gradients by setting first and last colors, then clicking gradient
    • Manually adjust individual colors as needed
  7. Apply Colors: Click "Apply Colors" to visualize the color scheme in your model.
  8. Create Legend: Use "Create Legend" to generate a legend showing color-value relationships.
  9. Reset if Needed: Use the reset function to clear all colors when starting over.

FAQ

Yes, the UI is not blocked and you can switch between views. However, when you switch views, the tool resets to its initial state since categories are dependent on the current view.

The gradient feature uses the first and last elements in your selection. Set colors for the first and last elements, then click "Gradient" to create a smooth color transition between all parameter values.

After applying your color scheme, click "Create Legend" to automatically generate a legend view. This legend will show all colors with their corresponding parameter values, perfect for adding to sheets or documentation. You will need, at least, one legend in your model to use this feature.
